April Chambers has been awarded the prestigious Family Genealogy Fellowship by the Mississippi Department of Archives and History. She traveled to Jackson, Mississippi, to conduct in-depth research at the archives, where she explored a variety of vital records, including probate microfilm, death certificate microfiche, periodicals, subject files, and a wealth of archived manuscripts, newspapers, and books. Her research has yielded significant insights into geographic information and African American history in Tunica and Leake County, Mississippi. Additionally, she uncovered valuable materials related to food and culture. April is eager to present her findings at the upcoming meeting of the Patricia Lidell Researchers.
